Terms & Conditions
Urras Energy Society was set up to offer an opportunity to invest in a community renewables development and manage the assets over the longer term. It has a co-operative structure with community benefit objectives and, following the share offer, its membership now comprises individuals, businesses and organisations. Investors took up the opportunity to assist in the creation of a sustainable future for the Galson Estate community and, at the same time, secure an attractive return on their investment over a 20 year period.
The objective of the share offer was to raise monies to support the installation of two 900kW wind turbines at Ballantrushal in the Isle of Lewis, to operate alongside a first 900kW turbine that was installed in autumn 2013. These wind turbines are connected to the local power grid and provide clean, green electricity for over 2,100 homes each year. Net profits will be reinvested in the Galson Estate community by Urras Oighreachd Ghabhsainn through its Community Investment Fund.
Urras Energy Society is registered with, but not authorised or regulated by, the Financial Conduct Authority and, therefore, investments are not safeguarded by any depositor
protection or dispute resolution scheme.
